I have been reading the book , "Rediscovering Catholicism", by Matthew Kelly , and one of the subjects that he brings up is friendship. He states , "There is nothing more beautiful in this life than a good friend." When Matthew was a teen, his father would say to him, "If you find five true freinds in your lifetime, you will have lived a life infintely blessed." WOW...have you ever thought of that?
What an amazing statement.
Matthew Kelly gives us a lot of things to think about in this book, when it comes to friendship. The following are some of the questions that he challenges us to reflect upon...
"What constitutes a true friend? Perhaps it would be helpful for you to pause for a moment and reflect. Who are your true friends? What makes them good friends? What sort of people do you like being with? What types of people give you energy?" Kelly also states, "If you want a litmus test for choosing friends, use this question: Will spending time with this person make me want to be a better person?"
"None of us realize how much we influence others, " or how others influence us. Kelly also tells us that, "You will learn more from your friends than you ever will from books. Choose your friends wisely."
Think about those that you come into contact with in your lives. Think about the questions that Kelly challenges us to reflect upon. How many of us have really sat down and thought about our friends? Take some time this week to relax, reflect and pray about this.
Happy journaling and God Bless--Jenn
