Let me tell you that I am SO excited to be blogging on Tuesdays. I will be honest with you, I am pretty new to the whole blogging thing, so please bear with me as I get accustomed to this. What a beautiful Tuesday we are having! I hope you are all enjoying the weather. Even if you are inside most of the day, open the windows or just step outside for a few minutes and soak up the sun's rays and breathe in the wonderful fresh air that the good Lord has provided for us today :) Yes, it is a wonderful day today!!!
I don't know about you, but some days I have a hard time focusing on the tasks of the day. Do you ever catch your mind wandering and find you are asking yourself tons of questions? Or do you find yourself faced with a particular question that seems will not go away? Well, it happens to me. One of the things I have been reflecting on the past few weeks and months is LIFE & ITS PURPOSE, OR RATHER WHAT IS MY PURPOSE IN LIFE? WHAT IS MY CALLING? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO BE DOING?
WelI...it just so happens that today I stumbled across a book I purchased a few years ago that I have not read yet (Yes, I do have a habit of doing that :) ) and came across a few questions that are so fitting with the subject I have been challeged with. The book is called, "The Rhythm of Life-Living Every Day with Passion and Purpose," and is written by Matthew Kelly, and the following questions are ones that I would like to share with you.
1. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM LIFE?
2. WHAT ARE YOUR DREAMS?
In his book, Kelly asks us to think about these questions, ponder them, write our answers down and make a list. He suggests not to think too much, write quickly and don't analyze your answers. He asks us to even write down the ones that seem foolish. Some of them may change as time goes on but he says that it is good to have them on paper. He even goes so far as to suggest getting a notebook or journal and recording your hopes, dreams, ideas and words there. Date your entries so that you can look back on them in a few weeks, months or a year later to see where you were and where you are now.
Do you journal? So many books, and bible studys that I have done suggest this as an important part of reflection, prayer and study. You would think that for as many times as I have heard or read this, that I would have tons of journals filled up, but sadly, this is not the case. I have several friends that do this and they say that it is an amazing way to relieve stress, decompress, pray and reflect.
Here is my challenge to you. Start journaling. Now since it would not be right for me to tell you to do this and not me, I will take myself up on this challenge as well. Let me know how you are doing. How is it changing your life? Is it something that you think you will continue?
WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE, YOUR DREAMS, WHAT DO YOU WANT IN AND FROM THIS LIFE????
I found this on the first page after the Table of Contents in Kelly's book that I would like to leave you with...
"DO NOT LET YOUR LIFE BE LIKE A SHOOTING STAR, WHICH LIGHTS UP THE SKY FOR ONLY A BRIEF MOMENT.
LET YOUR LIFE BE LIKE THE SUN,
WHICH ALWAYS BURNS BRIGHTLY IN THE HEAVENS.
BRING LIGHT AND WARMTH TO ALL THOSE ON EARTH.
LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!"
May God bless you each and every day as you continue on your journey in life. Peace to you my friends---JENN
